Tournai-Brussels

This morning I took the train to go to Tournai to ride in this area and to climb some BIGs and important walls of the Ronde.

I climbed 6 BIGs, 5 new to me.

A little spin of Tournai, with some pictures.

Near there is Mont Saint Aubert, the first BIG of the day.

5

This is the hardest part. 15% at the top.

6

7

8

The views of Tournai are cool.

9

I think there’s another harder side, stoned, between the two oficial climbs. Although I didn’t investigate because there was snow. That climb goes directly to the church, and it’s on pave.

Some kms further down, to the next BIG. The Kluisberg.

5% adv. 11% max. Only 2 kms

10

11

At the top there was snow and a lot of ice!

12

Then I continued through the forest, on a terrain-road to save some kms.

But it was very frozen.

13

Only traces of the cars in some parts were cleaned.

14

15

Oude Kwaremont was the next BIG!
It’s very famous, but only because it’s on pave.

Here were the marks of “the Ronde” (Ronde Van Vlaandereen).

16

17

And a little video (but I didn’t have a lot of battery).

Near there is the other famous BIG Paterberg.

375 m!! Adv 15.2% Max. 20%

19

20

Me climbing! In the hardest part, of course.
It’s very easy despite the pavé. It’s very very short.

21

Road to the next. They all go one after the other.

22

and in the background of the photo we’ll show the profile of the next climb. Koppenberg.

23

Koppenberg!

Adv 14.3% Max 25%. All pave.

24

There it’s really hard, and being wet it’s imposible to climb.

25

In the end I need to push the bike!
Ooooh geez, can’t be happening!

26

More marks of the ronde.

27

More roads of pave.

28

More halls (this is Zarsenberg).

29

More little roads with snow (and a wind mill).

30

Really nice trail in the Muur area.

31

32

And in Muur is the Muur van Geraardsbergen, another BIG that I climbed some weeks before.

I timed it: 3 min 25 seg. But in the last part there was snow, and it was dificult.

I was a little overheated.

33

To finish I followed a part of the Ronde, and then continued on the small roads back on my way to Brussels.

34

Good day and now I have a few more BIGs!!!
Nice.
